4th of July

I never got into the 4th of July spirit, because it never interested me as a real event to feel the need to celebrate, but what got me surprise is the negative reaction people are having with this 4th of July, because of the most recent events that been happening to African Americans and other minority groups. I think it's great see people get upset at others for expressing their feelings towards the 4th of July on social media platforms. I don't know what there to be celebrated for 4th of July, especially after all bad things that been going recently like the killing of people from the police and lack of solidarity in the country makes it hard for people to respect the 4th of July without seeking the justice that is being asked for. Today, I agree with not celebrating 4th of July, because of its negative past and with recent events that been going throughout this country. I don't mind if people want to celebrate today, but I just don't think it's something for me to celebrate because who I am as a person.
